Author of eighteen books translated into several languages, all favourably received by the scientific community, and some of which have met success with a large non-specialized readership.

He teached for thirty years at the University of Paris VII and is at present the director of the Séminaires Psychanalytiques de Paris, an active training center for psychoanalysts, psychologists and social workers. Editor of the series DESIR/PAYOT at the Editions Payot publishing house.

He took part in many missions within the context of cultural and university exchanges with foreign countries (USA, Canada, Japan, Russia, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico). Promoted Chevalier of the Legion of Honour and Officer of the National Order of Merit by way of his psychoanalysts and writers activities.
